How we help you prepare

When you join Salisbury Plain Advanced Motorists as an Associate member, we allocate you an experienced Group Observer. This is someone who has passed the relevant IAM test and has been trained in Observing methods to IAM standards.

The Observer works with you, on a one-to-one basis, accompanying you on driving/riding sessions, observing your skills and advising what you need to change to meet the advanced test standard.

When your Observer considers you ready for the test, you will be given the opportunity to have a final assessment drive with a Senior Observer of the group.

Salisbury Plain Advanced Motorists provides guidance services to members of the public who are preparing to take an Advanced Test of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

For each category (e.g. car, motorcycle, minibus) Salisbury Plain Advanced Motorists has qualified group members who can help you improve your chance of passing the advanced test.

 

Test preparation guidance

To receive guidance from this support group, you must first become an Associate Member. This happens automatically when you apply through the IAM for a Skill for Life test preparation package. This is the recommended way to join.
